Editor's description: It was a chilling night in Bay City Michigan. Perfect night for deathrock. Inside The Embassy people gathered together in a small room to hear a collective of local metal, punk, and goth bands. As the first band stepped away from the stage i noticed a vaguely familar face in the hallway of the venue. I approached this person and introduced myself. Even though they were under a lot of pressure and scrambling to get things in order for the show, Luke Bones of Red Lipstick Death took a few moments to chat with me before going on stage. In this time i also met Frank Senka who was equally nice enough to give me some of his time.

The band then went upstage to pray before taking their places. The crowd started quieting down as Luke and The Judge started speaking into their mics. Suddenly Frank's Bass playing kicked in and the show was underway. Luke stepped randomly across stage while belting out the words to "Death in your Hand" and "Jack Be Dead". The crowd didn't show much movement yet, but you could feel the power of this band start to move among the people.
Red Lipstick Death has an aggressive goth punk sound, but they aren't afraid to have fun while on stage, even giving exchanges of light hearted teasing with some of the audience members when requests for Slayer tunes were shouted out.
The song "Bloody Christ" sticks out in memory as being a highlight of the night, far surpasing the quality of their demo version. To close, the band took a little twist in playing the well known praise song "Open the Eyes of My Heart".

Overall, Red Lipstick Death was excellent, definitely one of the better bands playing that night. I was fortunate enough to hang out with the band after the show and got to know the guys a little better over a midnight snack. Vocalist Luke is an extremely funny guy and his wit outmatches most people's i know and has a good heart to match. Bassist Frank is an extremely talented guy with a heart for God. I didn't get to speak to drummer Micha and guitarist The Judge too much, but both came off as great guys.
I was shocked when they had told me this was only their second show they've ever played and that their guitarist was 2 weeks fresh and only done 4 practices with the rest of the band. I would have never known with their level of skill and sense of collectiveness on stage. It was an amazing show and i'm a fan for life.
